Post CNY

Haven't blog for quite some time. Was busy before, during and after CNY.

My computer has gotten a trojan house from Facebook. Thinking of re-formatting my computer, but I heard requires the Windows CD. If anyone has one to lend, please let me know.

Haven't got time to upload the pictures from CNY. The camera isn't mine, so most of the pictures weren't taken by me. Hoping to get a Sony DSC-H3 or Canon PowerShot SX100 IS camera. Hopefully can grab myself a new toy from the next IT show (6-9 March 2008 at Suntec). Also thinking of grabbing a external harddisk to store my pictures, programs, games, MP3s and whatever I have as the harddisk space in my desktop is almost used up.

Workwise, the Antibody group did a presentation to the Director today during our MCC meeting. After the introduction of the Biacore system, the Director was surprised that the rest of the division does not know about the existence of the system except for Dr. Brendon Hanson. So he suggested that I present this Biacore system to the rest of the division during the Researchers' Forum (RF). No doubt I am honoured to do that because I will be the first research technologist to present on a RF. But it also means that I am the person to do the experiment with the system and the Director has hinted that he does not want to see me leave the company after all that the company has invested in me in terms of experience.

I'm still not too sure if I want to apply for the scholarship. If I take up the scholarship, I will be tied to the company for 4 years. By then, I will be 33 and may prove a bit difficult to switch career. If I don't, I will only be going for a basic degree, come back and switch to sales. I find that with all the work I am doing now, my pay is not justifiable. But I heard that a First Class Honours can fetch a really good pay in DSO. So I am in a dilemma. Will think about it during my Pangkor trip.

Oh yes! I am going to Pangkor Island during the Good Friday week with my BMT buddy. Will take the time to recharge myself and also think about what I want exactly in the future. This is going to be an important trip.
